Applications are invited for a position as Assistant/Associate Professor at the Department of Civil Engineering (DTU Civil Engineering) at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU). The position is available as soon as possible.
Responsibilities and tasks
The candidate will be engaged in teaching and research on development of solutions for integrated design of buildings with a very low use of energy for heating, cooling, ventilation and electricity for building services and lighting. The working area includes highly insulated building envelopes, thermal storage in constructions, window systems with positive net energy gain and solar shading, ventilation systems with heat recovery and minimum use of electricity, heating systems, cooling systems based on venting and night ventilation or water-cooled ceilings, lighting systems with daylight control as well as combination with renewable energy systems. The different topics are coupled in computations of the performance with respect to total energy use and indoor environment. The themes are also coupled in work on development of intelligent control and continuous commissioning of the different systems in the building. It is preferred that the candidate has a profound knowledge of several of the topics listed above including knowledge of relevant building energy simulation tools.
Innovation activities may be carried out in close collaboration with companies and trade associations, assessment activities may be carried out as commissioned by public authorities, and research activities may be carried out as part of national and joint European cooperation.
The candidate will be involved in teaching on all levels: classes and project supervision of B.Eng., B.Sc. and M.Sc. students, and for an Associate Professor a possibility to be supervisor of PhD projects. DTU has recently started a new education as B.Sc. in Architectural Engineering, and the candidate may have opportunity to contribute to teaching in this education.
The position is assigned to the Department's Section for Building Physics and Services. The new colleague will mainly work with the research group on Building Energy and Services. Other groups of the Section are responsible for activities in Building Physics and in Solar Energy Systems.
