Applications are invited for a post-doctoral position in a productive and interactive laboratory, with diverse expertise and access to a wide range of specialised equipment, within the William Harvey Heart Centre, part of the internationally renowned William Harvey Research Institute at Barts & The London School of Medicine & Dentistry.
The post, which is a 3-year, fixed term position funded by the British Heart Foundation, will involve identification of novel approaches to optimise the therapeutic benefit of cyclic GMP (cGMP) in pulmonary hypertension & pulmonary fibrosis. The successful candidate will join a team of scientists investigating wider physiological roles and pathological dysfunction of guanylate cyclase enzymes and cGMP signalling. This project will encompass a number of in vitro and in vivo pharmacological techniques, including experimental models of cardiopulmonary disease.
The applicant should have a broad background in in vitro and in vivo pharmacology, but specifically expertise in measurement of cardiovascular parameters. An interest in nitric oxide/natriuretic peptide/cyclic nucleotide signalling pathways would be beneficial.
The post is full time for 36 months, starting from 2nd January 2012 or as soon as possible thereafter. Starting salary will be in the range £30,350-£35,674 per annum inclusive of London Allowance.
