Queen Mary, University of London seeks an experienced System Administrator to work within the team to manage and improve the Novell-based file, print, email and collaboration systems underlying these services, including availability and capacity management, performance monitoring, and management of backup and recovery processes.
Other key responsibilities are to contribute generally to delivery and improvement of the managed desktop services and application management. The Desktop Systems team provides the student desktop and email services and the managed desktop services underpinning the activity of most professional services staff and many academic staff.
The ideal candidate will have experience of Systems Administration including installing, supporting and maintaining Netware/OES2 servers, experience of delivering managed desktop services, hardware installation and trouble shooting and running backup systems alongside proven strong analytical and problem solving skills.

This is a fixed term post for two years with a salary within the range of £33,794 and £39,786 per annum inclusive of London Allowance. Benefits include 30 days annual leave, defined benefit pension scheme and interest-free season ticket loan. Should the successful applicant be an internal candidate the position will be available as a secondment.
