Role Summary:
Our client is one of the UK's leading renewable energy developers and operators, that builds and operates offshore wind farms along the coasts of several European countries. Their extensive project pipeline includes wind farms totalling over 4GW. As the Technical Authority on all structural engineering for offshore wind projects, the Senior Manager Offshore Structures will build, lead and maintain a teams of structural engineers, based in diverse geographical locations. The team will provide specialist engineering support throughout the project lifecycle (development, project construction and plant operation).
Principal Accountabilities:
You will manage the delivery of cost effective civil and structural assets (foundations, jackets, towers etc) for our client's offshore wind projects and support the operational teams with the structural integrity management of existing wind farms.
A key element of the role is to manage the strategic selection of improved efficient and reliable foundation concepts to aid the overall construction and operation process.
Main Purpose of Job:
Build, lead and maintain teams of structural engineers, based in diverse geographical locations, capable of providing fully effective support to the offshore business throughout the project lifecycle.
Responsible for key structural technical recommendations on all projects throughout the project life-cycle with particular focus on construction and operational projects.
To deliver robust, but cost effective, civil assets for offshore wind projects and, where necessary, their associated onshore civil works.
Establishment and ownership of company structural engineering standards and establish a best practice approach for the delivery of offshore structural assets.
Accountable for quantifying and managing risks associated with the delivery of civil assets for offshore projects. In particular, managing the risks associated with a multi-contract approach to procurement, ensuring fully effective structures (integrated towers and foundations) are delivered.
Key Competencies:
Proven ability to build and provide strategic leadership for a team of technical specialists working in diverse geographic locations.
Experience in leading the provision of technical services throughout the project life-cycle, with the ability to effectively manage competing demands from different parts of the business.
Significant experience in relation to foundations for offshore wind farm assets, offshore site data, dynamic behaviour of tall structures, fabrication of steelwork, reinforced concrete design, corrosion protection and the iterative design for integrated wind turbine support structures.
Detailed understanding of industry standards, processes, codes and the regulatory frameworks.
Strong network of contacts throughout industry, including with competitors, suppliers, transmission system operators, regulators, universities and consultants,
Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues throughout the offshore wind business, at all working levels.
